How To: Extract / Merge files with .001 or .part extensions.

Merging / joining / extracting files with .001 or .part1 extensions using 7-Zip, on Windows7
*7-zip can also extract other multiple-part/split archive files with .z01, .r01

7zip is free & you can get it there: 7-zip.org

*Remember, always scan the files first using your antivirus before doing anything with it just to be safe & clean (^w^).

1. Place all the multiple/split files (.01, .02, etc.) inside a folder.

2.a. Right-click on the first numbered file (it's always the file with #1).
Highlight / point to 7-Zip & choose Extract to "urfiletoextract\".

the extracted file will look similar to this

7zip will automatically extract (similar to #3. below) the files in a new folder with same filename as the file you're extracting. It will be found inside the folder where your .001 or .part1 files are. **For me, this is the best option because archive-files often have a lot of files & folders in it. Of course extracting it into a new folder keeps it organized & easily searchable (^w^)

■■ If you want to place the will-be-extracted files into a certain folder, you can use the 7zip >> Extract files... option.

2.b. Right-click on the first numbered file (the file with #1).
Highlight / point to 7-Zip & choose Extract files...

A small Extract window will pop-out asking you where you want to extract the file. Click the [...] button then choose the folder you want from the directory list. OR you can also create a new folder by pressing Make New Folder button. Press the two OK buttons when you're done.

3. A new window will pop-out showing the extraction process. Wait for it to finish.

END! (^W^)

*If your file extraction wasn't successful and get an error message, then the file you were trying to extract might be corrupted, or you must be missing another .00 or .part file, or your file has not been downloaded properly.
