How to set your System Locale to Japanese, on Windows7

This is highly recommended when playing Japanese visual novels, so the Japanese menus/texts of these games on installation & gameplay will show up properly. No more garbled code-looking texts or square boxes (^w^).

1. On the START button this, click on Control Panel.

The Control Panel window will pop-out with a list of things, search & choose Region and Language. *Don't forget to click the View by: drop-down menu and choose Large Icons for easy searching. (You can always switch back to the default View type by clicking the drop-down menu & choose Category).

2. On the Region and Language window, click on the Administrative tab. Below the Language for non-Unicode programs section, click on the Change system locale... button.
A Region and Language Settings windows will pop-out, on the Current system locale: drop-down menu choose Japanese (Japan) & press OK.

A small Change System Locale window will pop-out, press RESTART NOW. Let it restart on its own.

You can check if the change is successful by going back to the Region and Language window >> Administrative tab, and see Japanese (Japan) below the Language for non-Unicode programs section.

You can also change back the System Locale to your preferred language by doing the same procedure above.

Sometimes you also need to change your Region & Language "Format" to Japanese (Japan) for some old games to run properly without getting error pop-out messages (Ex. Ritz games).

Format can be found in :
Control Panel >> Region and Language >> Formats tab : "Format" drop-down box : choose Japanese (Japan), then press APPLY, then OK. (restart not needed)

You can always change back the Format to your preferred language anytime you want by doing the same method mentioned above.

END! (^W^)

Also your User Account type should be set to Administrator, to be able to apply the settings above easily. And if possible, User Account Control settings should be set to Never Notify.
These can be seen on Control Panel >> User Accounts :
► Change your Account type /&/ Change User Account Control Settings
