Anime: Sakamichi no Apollon ♥

At first I was hesitant about this anime since (from what I've read before) it focuses on jazz music, not that I have something against jazz, it's just I haven't listened to it for quite some time now. Also the character design looked kind of old-fashioned so I thought this was adapted from a dated manga, and dated manga made me think of tragic stories which I'm not much fond of (0 0;)  Good thing my accumulated boredom forced me to watch this series, and just seeing the pilot episode blew my bl-luuving mind away~!! No wonder this series won an award last 2009 and also won the hearts of female & male readers alike ♥(*w* )

Plot:

Nishimi Kaoru has moved from city to city and school to school because of his father’s job, so having his first day at a new school was just routine for him. Being intellectual in addition to being a transfer student all the time, he has always been seen as an outcast. All he has had to do was bear it as usual until the next time he moved.

But things were slightly different this time. First, he started to get close to the class president, Mukae Ritsuko, and secondly, unlikely as it seemed, he grew closer to Kawabuchi Sentaro. Sentaro was infamous for getting into fights, skipping class and was an overall bad boy. Strangely enough, the three of them find common ground in music, namely jazz, and Kaoru finds himself actually enjoying the new town. -mu

The characters' personality are not different from the usual types (introvert, extrovert, friendly, etc.), but because of the elaborate story and the characters' connection+interaction with each other they are characterized in a unique way one might find them interesting. Also the jazz + background music by Yoko Kanno are really nice to listen to //in fact I'm already addicted to them// ♥(*//////* ) The story mainly focuses on the psychological and moral growth of the characters, of friendship & relationships, so most of the time it has a serious feel to it but still it's enjoyable to watch, one just needs to keep an open mind ;DD

I look forward to the next episodes and I do hope the story will end in an acceptable way *crosses fingers* ｘ＞ ＜)ｘ
